According to a folk tradition, Katmandu of Nepal was a lake surrounded by crags in ancient times.
It is said that Manjushiri came here and leveled crags surrounding four sides with sword to drain the lake and from that time people settled in the region.
For such tradition, Manjushiri is still worshiped by the Nepalese people.
