Biodiversity protected
Active efforts are made in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea to protect biodiversity by increasing the area of reserves of different forms step by step.
In recent years the Ministry of Land and Environment Protection, the Biodiversity Institute under the State Academy of Sciences and other relevant units have made a field survey of major reserves including biosphere reserves and animal and plant protection areas. Basing themselves on it, they have set the nationwide ecological corridor and upgraded the lists of species of living things and endangered species of the country on a regular basis.
In addition, they are promoting the work to protect and increase biodiversity of the country with different forms and methods such as supervision and control for the protection of animal and plant resources, mass information of raising the social concern, sci-tech presentation and seminar.
