We introduce typical libraries in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.
1. Grand People's Study House
The Grand People's Study House was established on April 1, 1982.
It is on Namsan Hill in Pyongyang, the capital city of the DPRK.
The Grand People's Study House has secured a lot of foreign books and sci-tech materials and given various kinds of lectures and short courses and provided reading service while innovating the teaching contents and methods over the past 40-odd years.
2. Sci-Tech Complex
The Sci-Tech Complex was inaugurated on January 1, 2016.
It is on the picturesque Ssuk Islet in the capital city of Pyongyang.
The Sci-Tech Complex is a comprehensive database which keeps the materials of sci-tech successes humankind achieved by digitizing them. At the same time, it is a multi-functional sci-tech service base which makes it possible to read various materials at any time through the internet and share and exchange information.
According to data available, the Sci-Tech Complex has been visited by a total of over 5,500,000 people and its website used by a total of over 116 million and more than 700 million materials disseminated over the past 10-odd years. The complex also gave more than 400 online lectures, rendered over 7,900 academic consultation service and there took place over 130 festivals and exhibitions, more than 450 seminars, presentations and short courses and at least 230 sci-tech deliberations and scientific conferences.
