Duty of Scientist

Doctor Kim Kyong Su, Director of the Electric Power Information Research Institute under the Ministry of Electric Power Industry, is one of the best scientists and technicians of the state selected in 2024.
In recent few years, he has led the institute to achieve a lot of successes in the work for putting the power management on a scientific and IT basis.
The sci-tech invention prize was awarded to the national integrated power management system established by the institute in 2022. And in 2023 and 2024 the institute came first in sci-tech competitions between one hundred and tens of institutes across the country and this year, February 16 Science and Technology Prize, the highest sci-tech prize, was awarded to a project carried out by the institute.
The project is of great national significance and economic effectiveness as it can reduce the transmission loss of electricity and minimize accident in the electric power system.
Three years ago, researchers of the institute established the national integrated power management system and buckled down to a research for completing it on a higher level.
As the research was intensified, they faced vast research tasks incomparable to the scale calculated at the beginning.
But they didn't give up and finally, optimized power transmission and supply system using the electric power-geographic information system and researched and introduced hundreds of protective devices of high performance.
Section Chief Om Sung Guk said the completion of the project is unthinkable apart from the devoted efforts of Director Kim Kyong Su, and continued:
"Director Kim set practical examples and led our researchers to finish the project.
Of course, there were failures and some problems in the course of carrying out the project.
With strong power of execution, however, he encouraged the researchers not to give up but complete the project on the highest level at the shortest time.
We learned a lot while carrying out the project of great national significance this time. We came to learn with what fighting spirit and strenuous efforts we should make scientific researches and on what level and height we should complete them."
The electric power industry of the country was put on a highly scientific and modern footing thanks to the establishment of the national integrated power management system and the consecutive development and introduction of different branch systems based on it.
Director Kim Kyong Su regards all the successes as the job he ought to do as a scientist. He said:
"I think it is the duty of our scientists to always set scientific research projects and complete them perfectly with conscience of scientist in solving difficult problems for development of the country.
Our institute will be a vanguard group in putting the power management of the country on a scientific and IT basis and I will devote all my wisdom and passion to become No. 1 of the group."
People praise Director Kim Kyong Su as a scientist always racking his brains to make perfect research findings conducive to the economic development of the country and putting it into practice without fail.
