Mangyongdae Schoolchildren's Palace
In the capital city of Pyongyang there is the Mangyongdae Schoolchildren's Palace which was built into a comprehensive extracurricular education base for schoolchildren.
The palace has different circle rooms including a sci-tech circle room and a musical art circle room, a general hall, a gymnasium, a swimming gymnasium and a theatre. More than 5,000 schoolchildren conduct various after-school activities here on a daily average.
The respected fatherly MarshalKim Jong Un visited the palace several times.
When he called at the palace in May 2014, he gave important instructions on wonderfully remodelling it into a palace for children.
Afterwards, he gave one hundred and tens of instructions on the reconstruction of the palace and guided hundreds of miniatures to complete all its architectural elements according to the minds of children and modern aesthetic taste.
When he visited the palace again in November the following year, he went round different places such as art and science halls and said the art section had been rebuilt well so that the schoolchildren could develop their skills according to their hobbies and aptitude.
That day, he beamed all over his face, saying: Since the Mangyongdae Schoolchildren's Palace has been completely changed, I seem to be here for the first time and come out of the fairyland. I am pleased to think of the children who would be happy at using the palace wonderfully changed into a comprehensive base for extracurricular education.
On January 1, 2024, he visited the Mangyongdae Schoolchildren's Palace again to enjoy the New Year performance given by schoolchildren.
That day, he watched the science fiction models invented by schoolchildren and their calligraphic skills and heard exemplary members of the Korean Children's Union boast of themselves knowledgeable, virtuous and healthy.
