Great Progress Made in Educational Development
  It is the intention of the Workers' Party of Korea to make ours a country which attaches the greatest importance to education and is most advanced in education in the world.
  The Democratic People's Republic of Korea energetically strengthened the material and technical foundations of education in 2025 as well, achieving substantial successes.
  Active efforts were made at universities and colleges to strengthen the foundations for laboratory and practical training. As a result, five experimental education centres with modern experimental equipment and apparatuses were built at Kim Il Sung University and the environment and conditions for experiment and practical training further improved at many other universities and colleges.
  A modern integrated school was built in Rangnang District of the capital city of Pyongyang, which can give continuous education and practical education to the children from kindergarten to senior middle school according to their nature and aptitude.



  The Eleventh Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the WPK stressed the need to push ahead with the remodelling of schools as a state undertaking and set an ambitious goal to renovate all the schools across the country within the next decade and persistently accelerate it so as to carry it through to the end without fail.
  The construction of schools, branch schools, kindergartens and branch kindergartens was powerfully promoted across the country including the city of Pyongyang and South Phyongan and Jagang provinces, with the result that hundreds of them have been remodelled. Therefore, better conditions for work and study could be provided to the teachers and students and precious foundations laid for improving the quality of education all the more.
 


  An exclusive network was established in the field of education to make a substantial contribution to the development of education in all regions. And education support program centres were set up in Pyongyang and the provinces, providing reliable bases for speeding up the process of putting education on an IT footing.
  Amid the strenuous efforts to better the educational conditions and environment throughout the society, the work for building educational apparatus factories, school fixtures factories and school things factories is promoted on a full scale.
  Active efforts were made in 2025 to raise the quality of basic education and improve the qualifications of teachers in the field of general education.
  As sound fruit is unthinkable apart from root, so talented personnel can be trained when they receive good secondary general education which gives basic education to the students.
  The general education sector carried on the work for imparting versatile knowledge in a methodological and theoretical way with main stress on giving students enough basic knowledge.
  Teachers' training courses and a number of exhibitions took place significantly to decisively improve the quality of basic education.



  Many schools strengthened education through visual aids and demonstration so that the students could consolidate what they had learned while directing primary efforts to fully providing conditions and environment for practical training and experiments.
 


  They also actively introduced good experience and successes through the short course for subject teaching and teachers' in-service training and created and applied development-, research- and discussion-style teaching methods according to their actual conditions to help the students cultivate the ability to think and practise on their own.
  The qualifications of teachers decide the quality of education and the ability of students.
  The provinces, cities and counties actively ran the teachers' in-service training centres and organized different short courses, lectures and seminars for the teachers to carry out their tasks satisfactorily.
 

 
  All those undertakings are of great significance in making ours an education conducive to realizing the new plans and policies of the WPK.
  In 2025 the education sector regarded it as an important work to reduce the difference between urban and rural educational levels.
  The sector set it as a primary task to resolve the shortage of teachers at rural schools and worked hard to strengthen the ranks of teachers at rural schools.
  It also dispatched excellent teachers to improve the ability of teachers at rural schools and actively disseminate and transfer advanced instructional resources of the capital city and towns.
  Between March and August 2025, ten thousand and hundreds of able teachers in cities went to rural schools and improved their teachers' qualifications and ability in various forms and methods such as working out of teaching plans, manufacture of multimedia programs for education and extracurricular teaching. By doing so, they put the qualifications of tens of thousands of teachers at rural schools across the country on the level of those at urban schools.



  In addition, they disseminated many videos of lessons and multimedia programs through the educational network so that the teachers at rural schools could further improve their qualifications while regularly seeing excellent instructional resources created by schools in Pyongyang and provincial seats.
  As a result, the differences between the capital city and provinces and between urban and rural communities in educational level including those in the ranks of teachers and educational conditions and environment were eliminated in all regions and at all schools, and the students could feel the superiority of the socialist education system in their life. And a guarantee was provided for puttiing our education on the world level in the near future.
  The achievements made in 2025 are a good fruition of the leadership of the WPK that always places education above all else and gives priority to it as the scale of creation and transformation is expanded and revolutionary tasks become enormous.
