Natural History Museum
--Request of Wang Yongzhi (China)--
Wang Yongzhi of China, who is listening to the shortwave broadcasting of the Voice of Korea and reading its homepage in different languages, has sent us a request.
He asked us to blog an article about the Natural History Museum at the foot of Mt. Taesong in the capital city of Pyongyang.
The Natural History Museum was inaugurated in July 2016. It is a base for education of the masses and study and dissemination of science which gives correct understanding and wide knowledge of the nature; it is a peculiar educational centre and cultural recreation resort for the school youth and children, and working people.
The museum has the Space Hall, Palaeobios Hall, Animal Hall, Plant Hall and different other exhibition halls and e-reading rooms implicitly showing the history of the universe and mankind and perfect conditions for holding international scientific seminars.
What draws the greatest attention of visitors is the Animal Ecology Hall and the Children's Study and Experience Room.
In the Animal Ecology Hall you can acquire profound and diverse knowledge of the animals and plants in the grass savanna through cyclorama, stuffed specimens, animal models and plant samples.
The Children's Study and Experience Room gives rich knowledge of the nature to the children and students through education of various methods including questions and answers, observation and experience along with visual aids giving a good understanding of the natural environment of the earth and the characteristics of the living things.

New samples and scientific materials will continue to be displayed in the museum in the future, which will make an active contribution to the cultural recreation and edification and education of the Korean people and school youth and children.
