Changed Kangdong

In recent few years Kangdong County in the suburbs of Pyongyang, the capital of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, has been changing anew.
It is the fruition of the regional development policy of the Workers' Party of Korea aimed at accelerating the building of a highly civilized state by means of a substantial and new qualitative change of regions.

Kangdong General Greenhouse Farm

The Kangdong General Greenhouse Farm is a large-scale modern greenhouse farm.
It has modern greenhouses of unique style such as a cylindrical greenhouse for vegetable cultivation and a dome-shaped glass hydroponic greenhouse. And the public buildings and terraced houses are in good harmony with the natural scenery, resembling a "greenhouse city" and "farm town".
The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un set it as a top-priority task to solve the problem of supplying plenty of fresh vegetables to the people in all seasons within coming few years. He proposed building a greenhouse farm which would make a great contribution to improving the diet of the capital citizens and energetically led it.
On February 15, 2023, he broke ground first to signal the start of the construction of the Kangdong General Greenhouse Farm and paid deep attention to its successful building.
Under his wise leadership, the Kangdong General Greenhouse Farm was inaugurated with due ceremony on March 15 the next year.

That day, he said new sphere and level of greenhouse vegetable production have been pioneered thanks to the completion of the plot- and labour-saving general greenhouse farm and added that the eye-opening change in the Kangdong area is an epitome of the worthwhile struggle of creation of our own style growing intense in the spirit of self-reliance and self-existence.
The Kangdong General Greenhouse Farm has become a farm of great profitability which produces tasty and nutritious green vegetables, vegetable fruits and functional vegetables in a scientific and balanced way and an ideal farm with modern and cultured working and living environment.

Kangdong County Hospital

The Kangdong County Hospital is one of the regional hospitals built by the Workers' Party of Korea on a trial basis for the overall promotion of the country's public health.
On February 6, 2025, a groundbreaking ceremony of the Kangdong County Hospital was held.
The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un made a speech as a token of the groundbreaking. In the speech he said it is the top-priority task of our Party and government to make our public health sector modern and advanced and expressed the will to do the best to ensure that the regional population can receive advanced treatment at modern hospitals.
He came out to the spot on several occasions in a year to give detailed guidance to the construction of the hospital so as to ensure that the hospital is successfully completed in a short time.

He said it is the most important of the state affairs to protect the lives of all citizens and promote their health and added that there cannot be satisfaction in the work for improving the people's health.
Under his wise leadership, the Kangdong County Hospital was successfully completed in over 280 days as a model of development of regional public health which completely reversed the existing conception of a regional hospital.

Regional-Industry Factories and Leisure Complex in Kangdong County
for the "Regional Development 20×10 Policy"

In accordance with the new regional development policy set forth at the Tenth Session of the 14th Supreme People’s Assembly of the DPRK in January 2024, regional-industry factories are being built in 20 cities and counties on a nationwide scale every year from 2024.
Regional construction is being carried out in a wider range according to the three major construction projects of building public health facilities, leisure complex and grain management facilities in parallel with the construction of regional-industry factories presented in August that year.
2025 was the second year of implementing the regional development policy of the WPK.
On February 6 that year, a groundbreaking ceremony of the hospital and leisure complex in Kangdong County was held.
That day, the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un said the leisure complexes we are planning to set up have never been conceived of in regional construction and that the multifunctional leisure complex will, by providing the regional people with latest science and nourishment of civilization without interruption, serve as a fertile land and a cradle for training them to be proud masters capable of running modern industry on their own and for identifying and training talented people.
Later, he visited the construction site, paid deep concern to the construction process and led it to be completed on the highest level.
On December 15, 2025, an inaugural ceremony of the regional-industry factories and leisure complex in Kangdong County for the "Regional Development 20×10 Policy" was held in the presence of Kim Jong Un.

The regional-industry factories and leisure complex in Kangdong County, which have been built perfectly as a symbol of Korean-style civilization and development, will contribute to improving the material life of the local people and their mental and cultural growth.
The changed Kangdong tells that the dream and ideal of the people are coming true under the leadership of the WPK which intends to accelerate the prosperity and development of our state and the promotion of the people's well-being more quickly and vigorously.
