The factory could make those successes in the production because it has strengthened its own sci-tech forces before anything else.
Last year alone, it developed the functional antibiotic silk socks and Lyocell socks by relying on its own sci-tech forces.
All the employees of the factory have prepared themselves as masters and developers of new technologies with the viewpoint that the people's appraisal of products means that of the work attitude of officials and workers of the production units concerned.
Long ago, the officials of the factory drew a conclusion that they cannot make rapid development by relying on some experts and highly skilled workers and have directed special efforts to preparing all its employees as workers of intellectual type and possessors of high technical knowledge and skills.
One day, officials and technicians of the factory met to discuss the technical data on imported socks of new types, Workshop Head Kang Song Jun said and continued:
"We came to a conclusion that it was possible to produce such socks with the existing capacity of the factory. We organized a meeting for joint review of the designs of patterns and brands of socks and packing styles, made trial products and held a goods show. But we had a series of obstacles in serializing their production.
Because the overall technical knowledge and skills of the employees were not high enough to satisfy the technical requirements of the new products."
In order to produce any types and kinds of new products flawlessly at any time, it was necessary to put the overall technical knowledge and skills of the employees on a high level. For the purpose, the factory induced the lecturers and disseminators to improve their practical qualifications on the basis of a detailed analysis of the technical study which was organized once a week and the operation of the sci-tech learning space and made exact demands on them to work out their sci-tech teaching plans substantially with materials actually needed for the workers.
The officials of the factory also renewed the sci-tech dissemination system and steadily supplemented latest data to the database. At the same time, they saw that some functions were added to the dissemination system so as to grasp in real time how much knowledge the employees acquired while using the sci-tech learning space.
As a result, a change took place among the employees, Kang Song Jun said and continued:
"An employee made a contribution to raising the productivity by formulating a rational equipment remodelling proposal and another invented and introduced a working method that can shorten the production process to the maximum.
In those days, the factory could increase the variety of products and improve their quality all the more and was selected as one of the ten best enterprises in 2024. One of the secrets of those successes is that all the employees possessed high technical knowledge and skills, studying while working as masters of the factory."
The experience of the Pyongyang Hosiery Factory shows well that only when all the people firmly prepare themselves as workers of intellectual type in the present era when science and technology are developing rapidly, can they become true masters of their workplaces and present wonderful creations to the country and people.
