Mind of an Old Teacher
Anyone who majored in medical sciences must have a wish to become a famous doctor.
But there is an old teacher who devotes his life to the education of basic medicine, burying the wish completely under the teaching platform. He is Associate Professor Pak Kong Ro, Researcher of the Anatomy Laboratory under the Faculty of Basic Medicine of the Pyongyang University of Medical Sciences.
Anatomy can be called a compulsory subject that the medical students must study without fail. Therefore, Pak puts greater efforts in teaching the subject to the students than the teachers in charge of other subjects.
But few people knew about his efforts.
Once, Researcher Kim Un Yong asked him after her assignment to his laboratory:
"At that time, I asked him if he really did not have any regret while devoting himself to teaching anatomy and if it would be more worthwhile to teach other subjects with which he could be renowned as a teacher.
That day he said: Of course, nobody may appreciate my efforts. But anatomy is very important as it is the foundation of the medical sciences. Someone should teach the subject anyhow. The height of the teaching platform is decided by none other than one's own pure conscience and devotion."
As he keeps such motto, Pak Kong Ro has never sought his reputation and reward all his life.
To him, the passion he devotes to his students means the sweat he sheds for the motherland and he is the happiest when he hears of the proud successes and feats his disciples make at their workplaces.
He always tells the researchers that he regards it as the high appreciation by the motherland.

With such outlook on life, Pak Kong Ro is devoting his everything to the researches as an authority on anatomy in the field of medical sciences of the country though he is in his 80s.
