Staff members of Russian embassy lay wreaths at Liberation Tower and cemeteries of fallen soldiers of Soviet Army











Staff members of the embassy of the Russian Federation in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea laid a wreath before the Liberation Tower on the 9th on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of Russia's victory in the Great Patriotic War.
Guards of honour of the Korean People's Army were standing at the tower.
Present at the wreath-laying ceremony were Alexandr Matsegora, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation, staff members of his embassy, Russian guests staying in the DPRK and officials concerned including those of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The national anthems of the Russian Federation and the DPRK were played.
A wreath in the name of the Russian embassy was laid before the tower amid the playing of the wreath-laying music.
The participants paid a silent tribute to the memory of the martyrs of the Soviet Army before looking round the tower.
That day they placed a wreath, bouquets and flowers at the cemetery of fallen soldiers of the Soviet Army in Sadong District.
Meanwhile, staff members of the Russian embassy visited the monuments to the Soviet Army in Tongnim, Sinuiju, Uiju, Wonsan, Hamhung, Nampho and Haeju, and those of the Russian consulate general in Chongjin called at the liberation tower and the martyrs' cemetery in Chongjin and Rason.
