DPRK's tourist industry with firm prospect











































Mountain tourism and coastal tourism are tourist industries with firm prospect in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.
The DPRK is rich in mountain and coastal tourist resources as almost 80 percent of its territory is mountains and its east and west are bounded by the sea.
Especially, the nature in the area of Mt. Paektu is tourist resources worthy of pride.
There are many celebrated mountains and scenic spots such as Mts. Kumgang, Myohyang, Chilbo and Kuwol, Majon and Yombunjin.
The DPRK government is paying deep attention to developing the tourist industry to make the people fully enjoy a more civilized life and expanding and developing diversified exchanges and cooperation with other countries.
Under the wise leadership of the Workers' Party of Korea the Munsu Water Park, the Masikryong Ski Resort, the Yangdok Hot Spring Resort and the Wonsan Kalma Coastal Tourist Area have been wonderfully built and the construction of the Mt. Paektu tourist resort is progressing apace amid the state concern.
The DPRK was admitted to the World Tourism Organization in September 1987.
