18th Pyongyang International Film Festival closes




The 18th Pyongyang International Film Festival came to a close.
Its closing ceremony was held at the Pyongyang International Cinema House on the 27th.
Present there were Vice-Premier Kim Myong Hun, officials concerned, creators and artistes in the filmdom, working people in Pyongyang and foreign delegations and delegates and international jurors on a visit to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea to participate in the festival.
Invited to the ceremony were members of the foreign diplomatic corps in the DPRK and overseas Koreans staying in the homeland.
The results of judgment were made public and prizes awarded at the ceremony.
A letter to the respected ComradeKim Jong Un sent by the participants in the 18th Pyongyang International Film Festival was adopted amid the enthusiastic applause.
A closing address was made by Ri Song Un, Director-General of the National Administration of Motion Picture Industry who is Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Festival.
He said the festival confirmed again that it is the mission of the cinematic art and progressive moviemen to create a faithful portrayal conforming with man's desire and aspiration for independence.
He stressed that he will endeavour to maintain the noble spirit and idea of the Pyongyang International Film Festival and expand and develop the relations of friendship and cooperation with moviemen of different countries in the future, too.
The flag of the Pyongyang International Film Festival was lowered amid the play of the song "I Love Pyongyang".
