State academic degrees and titles awarded to intellectuals
  State academic degrees and titles were awarded to intellectuals who made valuable scientific research findings in the struggle for opening up a broad avenue for the overall national rejuvenation with the single mind to greet the Ninth Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea with proud sci-tech successes.
  An awarding ceremony was held on the 6th with the attendance of Vice-Premier Jon Sung Guk and intellectuals.
  A decision of the State Commission for Conferment of Academic Degrees and Titles of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea was read out and professorship was awarded to six persons including Kim Hyong Do, Dean of the Pyongyang Han Tok Su University of Light Industry, and Kim Hyon Chol, Department Head of the University of National Economy.
  Doctorate was awarded to 67 persons including Department Head Won Yong Nam and teacher Hyon Ho of the Central Cadres Training School of the Workers' Party of Korea and Section Chiefs of Kim Il Sung University Kim Ju Il and Ri Myong Hak.
