Conferences of provincial (municipal) committees of WPK held
The work is promoted to successfully hold the Ninth Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea which will serve as an epochal turning point in developing the gigantic pioneering period of the comprehensive development of socialism to a new high stage.
Conferences of the city and county Party committees were held under the guidance of the preparatory committee of the Party congress. They were followed by the conferences of the Party committees of the provinces (municipalities directly under the central authority) and the Party organizations playing the same role as them including the Party committees of the Cabinet, the Korean People's Army, the Ministry of Public Security and the Ministry of Railways.
Present at the conferences held between January 28 and February 6 were members of the leadership of the Party organizations concerned and the delegates elected at the conferences of the city and county Party committees.
Senior officials of the Central Committee of the WPK guided the conferences.
Presidiums were elected.
The conferences reviewed the work of the Party committees concerned for carrying out the crucial tasks presented by the Eighth Party Congress and seriously discussed the scientific ways to set development-oriented goals on the basis of the experience and lesson of the past five years and attain them.
Reports and speeches were made.
The conferences authorized the Party committees to be elected anew to adopt decisions in reflection of the tasks to be presented by the Ninth Congress of the WPK and carry them through.
The conferences elected the leadership of the Party organizations concerned.
They elected the delegates to the Ninth Congress of the WPK and recommended the observers.
