"Inter-Provincial Riding Competition for Commemorating the March 8 International Women's Day--2026" held
An inter-provincial riding competition took place at the Mirim Riding Club in the capital city of Pyongyang on the occasion of the March 8 International Women's Day.
Men and women riders selected from the provinces took part in steeplechase, trot relay without stirrups, 1,600-metre race and other events held on the indoor and outdoor tracks.
Preliminaries were held on the 7th.
The finals of the "Inter-Provincial Riding Competition for Commemorating the March 8 International Women's Day--2026" took place on the 8th.
They were enjoyed by Jo Yong Won and Ri Il Hwan, Members of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, and other cadres of the Party and government, chief secretaries of the provincial Party committees and their wives.
Invited there were Choe Son Hui, Foreign Minister of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Kim Yo Jong, Department Director of the Central Committee of the WPK, and other women officials working at the Party Central Committee and government organs, officials of the Central Committee of the women's union and women labour innovators.
The spectators included working people and youth and students in Pyongyang.
Riders of the Mirim Riding Club gave horsemanship and steeplechase demonstrations before the finals.
South Hamgyong Province came first in total, the city of Nampho second and South Hwanghae Province third in the competition.
The finals were followed by a 1,600-metre race demonstration of men and women riders of the Mirim Riding Club.
At the end of the competition, cups, diplomas and prizes were awarded to the provinces on the top rankings and winners of each event.
Prizes were awarded to the winning horses in the 1,600-metre race.
An art performance was given by the Art Squad of the Central Committee of the Socialist Patriotic Youth League in congratulation of the March 8 International Women's Day.
