Two Certificates of Invention
An old man called Kwon Yong An, who got two certificates of invention, is living in Kwanmun-dong No 3, Rangnang District, the capital city of Pyongyang.
He is an ordinary technician who made a valuable invention just before his retirement on a pension and thus contributed to normalizing the production of his unit and was awarded a certificate of invention. The news that he got another certificate of invention last year when he retired surprised the people.
What made him get another certificate of invention after he retired?
When a reporter asked him how he could make a valuable invention after his retirement, he told a story.
"For decades, I had thought that it was enough for me to remain faithful to my job. One day, officials of my factory enabled me to learn in the study-while-you-work system, saying I should learn to do more things.
This is how I became a worker-student. I studied harder and harder and later, became a technician of the factory."
When Kwon Yong An was nearing the age of retirement, the factory discussed a serious issue on whether to import equipment for boosting the productivity or make it by itself.
At that time, he was aged but made strenuous efforts to contribute to normalizing the production of the factory and finally manufactured the equipment suited to the actual conditions of the country.
Even after his retirement he never stopped the research at home with the pride of being an inventor. He decided to further develop the equipment he had already made. He made the equipment of higher performance than before with his laborious pursuit and efforts, and got another certificate of invention in his 60s.
The two certificates of invention tell us that anyone can make a contribution to prosperity and development of the country if they work hard with the mind to give a help to the country.

Kwon Yong An is still making constant speculation and pursuit to invent another new technology.
