The Tower of the Juche Idea
  The Tower of the Juche Idea is standing on the bank of the Taedong River in the capital city of Pyongyang.



  It was unveiled on April 15, Juche 71(1982) on the occasion of the 70th birth anniversary of the great leader Kim Il Sung.
  It consists of stone tower with torch, thematic and sub-thematic sculptural groups around it, pavilions on its both sides and two large fountains in the middle of the Taedong River in wide area, forming a large architectural group.









  The tower is 170 metres high. The tower body including the stylobate is 150 metres high and the torch 20 metres high and 11 metres across.
  The tower body has a total of 70 tiers in commemoration of the 70th birth anniversary of Kim Il Sung.
  Displayed on the inner walls of the stylobate of the tower are more than 300 memorial stone pieces sent by political parties, public organizations and individuals in over 100 countries of the world.
  The Tower of the Juche Idea is demonstrating its dignity all over the world as a historic monument representing the desire and aspiration of the Korean people and the world revolutionary people to defend and glorify the Juche idea authored by Kim Il Sung generation after generation and as a common artistic treasure of humanity.
