He took part in the 20th Taekwon-Do World Championships for the first time and won two gold medals. He also carried off gold medals at the ensuing 21st and 22nd Taekwon-Do World Championships and the Ninth and Tenth Asian Taekwon-Do Championships as well.
In particular, he bagged four gold medals in the Tenth Asian Taekwon-Do Championships and thus contributed to enabling the DPRK team to obtain the largest number of gold medals in the history of championships. In addition, he received four gold medals at the "Taekwon-Do Tournament for World Cup--2024" of the Ninth International Martial Art Games, demonstrating the honour and dignity of the home of Taekwon-Do all over the world.
