Developing Food Culture

Now the Democratic People's Republic of Korea is building new model entities capable of further enriching the people’s diet according to the grain production structure which was changed into rice and wheat farming.
In late December 2021, the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un said that what the Workers' Party of Korea gives priority to in developing the agricultural production at present is to change the grain production structure of the country and powerfully propel the rice and wheat farming and that now is the time to change the dietary culture and life style by shifting the people's diet to the one with boiled rice and flour food as staple food.
In 2023, he met officials several times, told them that the wheat processing capacity should be raised in keeping with the increased wheat production and stressed the need to build processing factories of adequate capacity in the regions which produce a lot of wheat.
Afterwards, too, he taught the principles to be observed in building wheat processing factories.
Under his special care, modern wheat processing bases have been built in all parts of the country including Nampho, Haeju, Songnim and Wonsan, bringing about a substantial change in the people's diet.
A national flour food show was held last year, drawing attention of many participants.
Presented to the show were hundreds of food and processed food of tens of kinds. The show was conspicuous all the more as it was combined with the demonstration of how to make different kinds of flour food which can be used widely as staple food.

The show held amid the growing interest of the people in flour food served as an important occasion of rapidly spreading a new civilized life and new culture among the people.
The flour food making the diet simple and diverse comes closer to the people's life.
