Challenging Impossibility

Seeing his parents who lived as health workers all their lives, he felt every moment that nothing is more worthwhile and significant than protecting the people's lives.
That is why he decided to work at the Oncology Institute with an unusual dream and ambition after graduating from university over 20 years ago.
He buckled down to the research into a new onco-theraphy with a thought to relieve the cancer patients living in despair and anxiety of their sufferings even a little.
At that time, some effects were seen in the treatment of those who were early diagnosed with cancer. But those without indications for operation or those with postoperative recidivation used to be concluded that they could never be cured.
Whenever he sent back the patients who had come with a ray of hope, he could not repress his remorse for the failure in fulfilling his duty as a medical worker.
It was his creed that the medical workers should never give up treatment even though the patients give up their lives.
Ri Hak Su decided to establish a scientific treatment method for prolonging the patients' life to the maximum and intensified his research with constant speculation and pursuit.
The research into cancer which is regarded as an incurable disease worldwide was not that easy. But he completed treatment methods effective for activating the functions of affected organs, promoting metabolism in the body and restraining tumour tissue and received more than ten certificates of introduction of state sci-tech achievements.
He invented more effective treatment methods suited to the physical constitution of the Korean people and actively applied them to clinical practice. He said:
"Frankly speaking, all patients think that cancer is an incurable disease and live in anguish and despair, wondering whether they can live any longer.
Whenever I see the patients leave the institute, fully recovered after taking medication, I feel a pride as a doctor and attachment to my job.
I will devote my all to the improvement of the people's health by actively introducing modern medical science and technology in the field of onco-therapy into clinical practice."
Section Chief Ri Hak Su is challenging impossibility with a single mind to contribute to the protection of the people's lives by applying effective cancer treatment techniques.
