Active Efforts for Forest Creation and Conservation
The faculty is making increasingly exact demands on teachers and researchers to choose sci-tech problems of great practical significance as seeds for research and solve them perfectly.
Researchers at the Department of Forest Protection are intensifying the research for expanding and introducing the national system for predicting and forecasting the forest blights and harmful insects into the field of forestry, which makes it possible to exterminate the forest blights and harmful insects in time. In addition, they are actively accelerating the work for constantly renewing the system of forecasting the danger of forest fire on the basis of their some years' research related to the selection of kinds of trees for prevention of forest fires in the low-mountain area of our country and the decision of effective width of fireline.
The Department of Forest Informatics developed a forest resources investigation support system making it possible to save labour, fund and time for forest investigation, thus greatly contributing to working out a national forest recovery plan. Now, the researchers have increased the analysis index of the forest resources investigation support system and are brainstorming the technical problems arising in constantly raising the accuracy.
Teacher Ri Hyok Chol said members of the forest science research group have established a technology capable of raising the rooting rate of trees by using "Ryongnam No. 2", an accelerator for rooting, and are directing efforts to the research for expanding and introducing it into forest sapling planting, and continued:
"Besides, teachers and researchers of the faculty are intending to introduce into more units across the country the new plant growth regulator developed by using domestic raw materials and update the means that can manage the forest resources in a scientific way by using smart cell phone. Like this, they are pushing forward in a planned way with the researches for solving the technical problems arising in forest creation and conservation in time."
The teachers and researchers of the faculty are actively displaying their resolute creative spirit and enthusiasm today, too, deeply conscious of their duty in making the mountains of the country greener.
