A Girl's Science Fiction Model
Jong Pyol Mi studying at the Munsu Senior Middle School in Taedonggang District is a girl who takes great pleasure in fantasy.
She liked to disassemble and reassemble toys and used to make something from her childhood. Sometimes she made fantastic "inventions" to the surprise of her parents.
This year, she presented her science fiction model titled "Future of Animal Husbandry" to the "National Exhibition of Children's Science Fiction Models and Inventions--2026".
Similar exhibition is held in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea every year on the occasion of June 6, the founding anniversary of the Korean Children's Union. And a lot of schoolchildren participate in the exhibition.
In the run-up to the exhibition, Jong Pyol Mi put much effort into making invention from December last year.
What item is good for exhibition?
"Looking at the modern stockbreeding bases, fish farms and greenhouses built across the country, I had an idea of making a model of a plot- and energy-saving livestock farm."
But an idea was far from the reality.
In order to realize her idea, Jong Pyol Mi read books, unaware of the passage of time, to acquire the world trend and sci-tech materials related to the construction of livestock farm and matured the contents of the science fiction model.
After finishing the design, she started to make the science fiction model.
Sometimes she stayed up all night as the manufacture went against her. And when she completed it with difficulty, she was so pleased and shouted for joy.
The science fiction model titled "Future of Animal Husbandry" she made with all her wisdom and devotion was presented to the "National Exhibition of Children's Science Fiction Models and Inventions--2026" held this year.
Jong Pyol Mi designed the food production cycle so as not to waste leftovers from stables and fish farms.
"The general stable is built vertically and the domestic animal excrement is disposed automatically. Methane and assorted feed are got from the excrement. The assorted feed is used for fish breeding.
The water used for fish breeding is also used in greenhouses. And the wind power plant and photovoltaic power plant are used to generate electricity needed in the general stable and greenhouses."
Jong Pyol Mi's science fiction model drew the attention of many people and she took the top place at the exhibition and was awarded the Children's Scientific Pursuit Prize.
