Pride of Scientist and Aim of His Life
This is Dr. and Assoc. Prof. Kim Sang Chol, Section Chief of the Agricultural Chemicalization Institute under the Academy of Agricultural Sciences. He is one of the Best Inventor Prize winners in 2024.
He completed the book "Album of Harmful Insects on Grassland" which is of significance as a national treasure some years ago.
The book contains more than 1,300 photos of over 490 kinds of harmful insects in total including 490 photos of 190 kinds of major diseases occurring in a large-scale grassland and 810 photos of 300 kinds of major harmful insects, photos of feed crops of 18 kinds and main methods of exterminating harmful insects. It is widely used at scientific research institutions and agricultural production units.
And he has made upwards of 50 technical findings and inventions conducive to the agricultural development of the country over the past 10-odd years.
Last year, he developed a totally homemade seed coating agent capable of preventing damage by underground harmful insects and birds and a mixed herbicide effective in the rice paddy weeding last year. In recent years he has developed and introduced various kinds of agrochemicals needed for farming in succession.
He selects a new research project, saying it is a pride and lifelong goal of a scientist to solve the problems of the country.
