Scientific researches made to protect migratory birds
The DPRK is regarded as an important flyway of migratory birds and their stopovers in the northeast Asia.
In recent years, the Biodiversity Institute under the State Academy of Sciences has made a full survey of stopover of the migratory birds in the spring and autumn travelling period and their breeding during summer at the Mundok Migratory Bird Reserve and the Kumya Migratory Bird Reserve.
The researchers made clear the recent distribution of those to be protected and the value of their protection through the field survey of all the migratory bird reserves across the country.
A progress was also made in the research into the ecological activities of migratory birds and the work for taking measures to protect them through the international exchanges and cooperation for the protection of migratory birds.
