Ninth Congress of GFTUK held
The Ninth Congress of the General Federation of Trade Unions of Korea was held in the capital city of Pyongyang on the 11th and the 12th.
The congress made an in-depth analysis and review of the work of the general federation during the period under review and discussed and decided on the practical tasks and ways for the general federation to fully perform its mission and role as an organization of ideological education in implementing the Ninth Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea by radically improving its work as required by the times of the overall development.
It was attended by members of the 8th-term central leadership organ of the general federation and delegates elected at its organizations at all levels.
Also on hand as observers were officials of the Party and armed forces organs, ministries and national agencies and other officials concerned.
The rostrum was taken by Kim Jae Ryong and Ri Il Hwan, Members of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea and Secretaries of the Party Central Committee, Ju Chang Il, Member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the WPK and Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Kim Tok Hun, Member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the WPK and First Vice-Premier of the Cabinet, executive committee members of the Central Committee of the General Federation of Trade Unions of Korea, chairpersons of its provincial committees, exemplary trade union officials and members, and officials in charge of the trade union work of the armed forces organs.
When the congress was declared open, the national anthem of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea was played.
Kim Jae Ryong conveyed a congratulation message of the Central Committee of the WPK to the participants in the Ninth Congress of the General Federation of Trade Unions of Korea, and workers and trade unionists across the country.
The congress discussed the first agenda item "Review of the Work of the Central Committee of the General Federation of Trade Unions of Korea", the second agenda item "On the Revision of the Rules of the General Federation of Trade Unions of Korea" and the third agenda item "Election of the Central Leadership Organ of the General Federation of Trade Unions of Korea".
The First Plenary Meeting of the Ninth Central Committee of the General Federation of Trade Unions of Korea was held.
The congress elected the committee for making out its draft decision with members of the newly-elected 9th-term central leadership organ of the general federation. The committee examined the realistic and constructive opinions presented by delegates and supplemented them in the draft decision.
A decision of the Ninth Congress of the General Federation of Trade Unions of Korea was adopted with unanimous approval.
A letter of pledge to the respected ComradeKim Jong Un was adopted at the congress.
