Groundbreaking ceremony for construction of DPRK-Russia Friendship Hospital held


The DPRK-Russia Friendship Hospital is to be built on the shore of Myongsasimni in the Wonsan Kalma Coastal Tourist Area, a scenic spot on the East Sea, in the midst of active many-sided exchanges and collaboration to further strengthen the traditional relations of friendship and cooperation between the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and Russia for providing substantial well-being to the peoples of the two countries.
The construction of the hospital, an important item agreed upon at the historic DPRK-Russia Pyongyang summit, is another milestone in deepening friendship between the peoples of the two countries and a significant occasion proving the remarkable development of the bilateral friendly relations at a new high stage.
A groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the DPRK-Russia Friendship Hospital was held in the city of Wonsan, Kangwon Province on the 22nd amid the deep concern and expectation of the governments and peoples of the two countries.
Present there were Kim Tok Hun, First Vice-Premier of the Cabinet of the DPRK, Kim Tu Won, Minister of Public Health, Yun Jong Ho, Minister of External Economic Relations who is Chairman of the DPRK Side to the DPRK-Russia Inter-Governmental Committee for Cooperation in Trade, Economy, Science and Technology, Ju Mun Jin, Chairman of the Kangwon Provincial People's Committee, Kim Jong Gyu, Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs, officials concerned, builders and working people in the city of Wonsan.
Also on hand were members of the Russian government delegation including Mikhail Murashuko, Minister of Health of the Russian Federation, and Alexandr Kozlov, Minister of Natural Resources and Ecology who is Chairman of the Russian Side to the DPRK-Russia Inter-Governmental Committee for Cooperation in Trade, Economy, Science and Technology, staff members of the Russian embassy in the DPRK and Oleg Kosheev, Russian Consul General in Chongjin.
The national anthems of the Russian Federation and the DPRK were played.
Congratulatory and other speeches were made by Kim Tu Won, Mikhail Murashuko and Alexandr Kozlov at the ceremony.
Leading officials of the governments of the two countries broke ground first to signal the start of the project.
