Pyongyang University of Dramatic and Cinematic Arts
  The Pyongyang University of Dramatic and Cinematic Arts in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea turns out specialists in dramatic and cinematic arts, TV broadcasting and mass media.
  It was established on November 1, Juche 42(1953) as a conservatory attached to the then National Theatre. Afterwards, it was developed into the Pyongyang University of Dramatic and Cinematic Arts and the Pyongyang University of Cinematic Art. In Juche 77(1988) it was renamed the Pyongyang University of Dramatic and Cinematic Arts.
  The university has many faculties including the Dramatic Art, Cinematic Art, TV Broadcasting, Acting, Movie IT, Pedagogy and Online Education Faculties and a number of courses under them. There are also the Research Institute, the Postgraduate School, the Youth Film Production Unit, the Practice Drama Production Unit and so on.



  Teachers and researchers with academic degrees and honorary titles and actors and actresses of the Korean Film Studio and the Korean April 25 Film Studio with concurrent posts as lecturers teach students and make scientific researches at the university.
  The university has produced lots of talented film workers.
  Among them are many actors and actresses in the dramatic and cinematic circles, who were widely known at home and abroad.



  The university made a big contribution to developing the cinematic art of the country in the past. It is now directing great efforts to renovating its education in hearty response to the idea of the Workers' Party of Korea on bringing about a film revolution in the new century.



  The Korean people lay their great hopes on the education of the Pyongyang University of Dramatic and Cinematic Arts for training creators and artistes in the dramatic and cinematic circles possessed of versatile artistic talents and modern science and technology and the talented personnel to serve for the development of the TV broadcasting and mass media of the country.
