Delegation of Ministry of National Defence of DPRK participates in 13th Beijing Xiangshan Forum
Present there were delegations, experts and scholars of over 100 countries and regional and international organizations.
Head of the delegation Kim Kang Il, Vice-Minister of National Defence, made a speech at the 3rd plenary meeting on the 17th.
He said it is a common desire of humanity to achieve independent development and prosperity in a peaceful world without domination, subjugation, aggression and war and continued:
The DPRK has made every possible effort it can for lasting peace and stability on the Korean peninsula, a world's hot spot.
The fundamental cause why the situation of the Korean peninsula is still in the vicious cycle of confrontation and aggravated tension lies in the reckless political and military confrontation of the United States and its followers that have long been escalating the preparations for nuclear war, taking their hostile policy toward the DPRK as an immutable national policy.
The position of the DPRK as a nuclear weapons state, which was fixed by the Constitution, the supreme law of the state, is a limiting line of no retreat and the enemy countries with the most hostile and ferocious stand toward the DPRK must stop slandering the latter's just policy of self-reliant defence and part with the wild dream of the unfeasible "denuclearization".
Since the degree of nuclear threat of the hostile forces gets maximized and their moves for confrontation become more active with each passing day, the DPRK will constantly expand and strengthen its self-defensive nuclear war deterrence on the principle of ensuring security and defending peace by powerful strength, thus firmly defending peace and stability of the Korean peninsula and the region.
The international community should squarely see the source of the worsened situation in the Asia-Pacific region including the Korean peninsula and raise the common voice for defending the international justice. The DPRK will make joint efforts to develop the good-neighbour and friendly relations with all countries of the world aspiring after justice and independence, oppose hegemony and unilateralism and establish a fair international order, he stressed.
That day, the head of the delegation of the Ministry of National Defence of the DPRK met with the Minister of National Defence of the People's Republic of China.
Discussed at the talks were some issues arising in making close the strategic communications between the two armies of the DPRK and China, increasing the mutual confidence, expanding substantial cooperation and achieving common development of both sides and in strengthening collaboration for opposing hegemony, strong-arm politics and neo-militaristic tendency on the international arena.
On the other hand, the delegation of the Ministry of National Defence of the DPRK visited the venue of the 14th Chinese International Defence Exhibition and was invited to a reception given by the Ministry of National Defence of the People's Republic of China.
